Introspection leads to extrospection and then contemplation returns and leads us to observation. (I may have stolen that, sorry)

What do I want to do, where do I want to be?  Am I in the right place physically, mentally and socially that I should be?  Who decides these things?  How do you know that you are not better at something else if you never try it?  Fear and uncertainty are crippling and cruel.  They maim the dreamer and drag him under a sea of complacency. 

So much in our society revolves around money.  Such is the way of a capitalist society.  But with that we also tie so much of our self worth and identity into what we do for a living.  Some people would say you can combat that by ‘doing what you love’.  What if what you love is just “being”?  What if you are an artist?  I recently saw an interview piece from artist Mike Giant http://vimeo.com/21356824.  He said a lot of stuff that speaks to this idea with out getting into the economical or political debate.  He says “Making art isn’t making good use of your time as far as our culture is concerned.”

Mike is one of the lucky ones. Or one of the ones that worked really hard and was able to look past the fear and know that at the bottom of that jump was something good.  But either luck or hard work he is still in the few that have the option.  There are not many people that can pay the rent with dreams.  But that never stops the dreamer.  They continue to dream.

But when does the dreamer become a doer?  How do you change that wish into action?

I have written, deleted, scrapped, saved, and rehashed many different posts since the last one.  I have been trying to figure out something else to write other then my usual “Stream of Consciousness” I usually spew out. 

I’m still looking for that something.

Im sitting at my desk looking at a pile of papers.  Some of them are probably bills that need tending too but I don’t really care.  Maybe if I take care of them and clean this area I will be less distracted.  Maybe if most of my hobbies and jobs didn’t require me to stare at a back lit screen I would be able to create more. 

Maybe I am just like everyone else and have a bad day once in a while.
