For those planning to rock.

In just a few weeks it will be that time of year where all musicans that own a white van will be required to travel to Austin TX to take part in th SXSW. I have been envoying this spectical for many years now. Sometimes as a performer others as a spectator. Last year I was just a spectator and in a week I racked up what I feel is an impressive count of 48 bands. That was with minimal planning and no advance work. However, it looks like I will be there 3 less days this round, so I will have to rely on the quality of the days and less the mass consumption model of last year. Which means I have to plan. This year I have already started planning, RSVPing and building an impressive list of rock to be had.

My method? I first start by searching the official SXSW.com list of bands and add anything that I recognize to my schedule. I have been keeping a list of bands I hear on Sirius radio and then looking them up. And then there is my favorite. I read many different blogs and search twitter for sxsw posts and find the parties with the free beer and bbq. Usually those places have some great bands I have never heard of, and well free beer.

I plan to document it some how and share it all here with all you. Stay tuned for more on this and other nonsense.
