This weekend I went to Denver to see Wilco.  What I came home with was a renewed fire to find a new place to live.  I have such great ties to Albuquerque, its home.  Its where my friends are.  Its where my family is.  However is just dont find it interesting anymore.  There is nothing new to do here.  I have walked the same 6-7 square blocks of this town for more years then should be allowed.  I have seen places come and go.  Great bands form, move on, get famous or just break up.  But right now things don’t seem to be coming back.  Music is a staple of my life and I enjoy sitting in a dark, loud bar as much as I like anything.  But bands don’t come to Albuquerque any more.  I know what some of you are thinking, “well then do something about it”.  But the problem isn’t people not trying to make that happen.  Its in the fact that when they do there isn’t much support for it.  Which is even more painfully obvious when you are trying to create the art as well.  People just are not that into here.  Denver has moved up on my list of places to think about.  It has the same great weather (more snow of course), its got out door type things happening but still have a thriving and growing “urban” scene.  Bands that I want to see play there.  People go out to shows just to see whats new.  Its my kind of scene.  Who knows what it will take for me to take action on these thoughts, but it seems that the time is pretty good to try and do something like this.  If I could just get my closest friends to make the move with me I think it would be a done deal.
